New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Sunday expelled former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth, father-in-law of her nephew Akash Anand, and national coordinator Randhir Singh Beniwal from the party, citing indiscipline and anti-party activities.

The move comes days after dismissing speculation over Anand's role in ticket distribution for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections.

On July 31, Mayawati had said she was personally overseeing the party's election preparations, chairing review meetings in Lucknow and finalising candidates herself. She said interviews had already been conducted and more than two dozen candidates finalised, while dismissing as "completely baseless" rumours that Akash Anand was deciding party nominees. On Sunday, Mayawati alleged that reports of Siddharth's return to Uttar Pradesh were part of a "deliberate conspiracy" to create confusion within the party and derail preparations for the 2027 polls. She said Siddharth had been expelled with immediate effect and would never be taken back.

She also expelled BSP national coordinator Randhir Singh Beniwal over repeated violations of party discipline. Party sources said Beniwal had failed to focus on poll-bound Punjab.

Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam has been appointed the BSP's new Punjab in-charge.
