BJP sweeps deputy mayor elections in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota

Jaipur: BJP candidates were elected deputy mayors of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota municipal corporations on Saturday, while the Congress won the chairperson's post in Khatushyamji municipality in Sikar district.

In Jodhpur, BJP's Vijay Singh Panwar was elected deputy mayor after defeating Congress candidate Abdul Karim by four votes.

After his victory, BJP workers celebrated outside the municipal corporation office and welcomed Panwar with garlands.


Panwar said development works in Jodhpur would be accelerated with the cooperation of the people and the "triple-engine government".

In Jaipur Municipal Corporation, BJP's Saroj Kanwar was elected deputy mayor, defeating Congress candidate Salman Mansuri.

BJP's Vivek Rajvanshi was elected deputy mayor unopposed in Kota as the Congress did not field a candidate.

BJP's Vikas Chauhan was elected deputy chairperson of Suket municipality in Kota.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Vinita won the election for chairperson of Khatushyamji municipality in Sikar district, defeating BJP's Prem Devi by one vote.
