20 rebel TMC MPs join NDA meeting; Kakoli Ghosh says delighted

NEW DELHI: The 20 rebel TMC MPs on Tuesday joined the NDA parliamentary meeting for the first time. The rebel group has been recognised as NCPI.

The meeting called 'Mangal Milan' was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central ministers and NDA MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

NCPI leader Kakoli Ghosh said after the meeting that the group is delighted to be part of this.


"NCPI is already registered with the Election Commission, and we have given all the documents to the Speaker for our recognition, and they have recognised us as a part of NDA. That's why they called us to the meeting today. But further talk is going on regarding our sitting arrangements and further recognition," Ghosh told media persons after the meeting. "I had never seen a meeting like this before. Such meetings didn't even take place prior to 2014. So, we felt very good about it, and we are delighted to have been invited and to have joined the NDA. All our MPs from the NCPI are working together. It is a matter of happiness."

Another NCPI MP Saayoni Ghosh said that attending the meeting was an enriching experience.

"Today there was a detailed discussion on FTAs and along with that a presentation was also given on the blue economy sector which is a growing economy in our country," she said after the meeting.

There were two separate presentations made by union commerce and industries minister Piyush Goyal and animal husbandry, fisheries, dairy and panchayati raj minister Lalan Singh.
