Recently, the BJP shared a post on X encouraging consumers to adopt the fuel confidently, stating, "use E20 without any worries," and adding that "the claim that using E20 petrol will lead to insurance claim rejections is completely false" and "no insurance claim can be rejected solely on the basis of using E20."
Addressing Myths Around Ethanol-Blended Fuel
The ministry had earlier released a detailed statement debunking several misconceptions related to ethanol-blended petrol, including doubts about insurance validity, engine damage, and fuel quality.According to officials, the Ethanol Blending Programme has been scientifically validated and implemented in coordination with oil marketing companies, automobile manufacturers, and fuel-testing agencies.
No Evidence of Engine Issues Since Rollout
Since the introduction of E20 petrol in 2023, the ministry noted that there have been no widespread incidents of engine failure or vehicle breakdowns linked to ethanol blending.
Strict Quality Standards in Place
The ministry also emphasized that ethanol used in fuel blending is produced through established industrial methods and adheres to strict quality standards before being mixed with petrol.[With TOI inputs]
