Weather updates today, August 2: IMD issues rain alert; check if your state is on the list

Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar and other regions are likely to witness varying intensity of rainfall during the period. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several areas.

The weather department has predicted thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several regions, along with isolated instances of very heavy rainfall. Northwest, central and eastern parts of the country are expected to witness varying intensity of showers during the forecast period.

Delhi weather forecast

Delhi is likely to witness fairly widespread rainfall between August 3 and 7. Isolated to scattered rainfall is also expected on August 2.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Delhi along with Haryana and Chandigarh from August 2 to 4.

Haryana and Chandigarh weather forecast

Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall between August 3 and 7.

Isolated rainfall is expected on August 2, while isolated heavy rainfall is likely from August 2 to 4.

Punjab weather forecast

Punjab is expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on August 3 and 4.

The state may witness isolated to scattered rainfall on August 2 and between August 5 and 7. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely between August 2 and 4.

Uttar Pradesh weather forecast

West Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall between August 3 and 7. Isolated rainfall is expected on August 2.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over West Uttar Pradesh from August 3 to 5.

East Uttar Pradesh may witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 2 to 7. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely between August 2 and 6.

Rajasthan weather forecast

West Rajasthan is likely to receive fairly widespread rainfall on August 2, followed by isolated to scattered rainfall from August 3 to 7.

East Rajasthan may witness isolated to scattered rainfall between August 2 and 7.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely over both East and West Rajasthan on August 2.

The IMD has also forecast isolated very heavy rainfall over East and West Rajasthan on August 2.

Himachal Pradesh weather forecast

Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 2 to 7.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall during the same period.

Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh weather forecast

Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad are likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall between August 2 and 7.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph and gusts up to 50 kmph are also expected during the period.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely from August 2 to 7.

Uttarakhand weather forecast

Uttarakhand is expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall between August 2 and 7.

The IMD has forecast isolated thunderstorms and lightning during this period, along with isolated heavy rainfall.

Madhya Pradesh weather forecast

East Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 4 to 7.

West Madhya Pradesh may witness isolated to scattered rainfall between August 2 and 7, while East Madhya Pradesh may experience similar conditions on August 2 and 3.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely over West Madhya Pradesh from August 2 to 5. East Madhya Pradesh may witness gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph with gusts up to 50 kmph during the same period.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over East Madhya Pradesh between August 4 and 7.

Maharashtra weather forecast

Vidarbha is likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall on August 5 and 6.

Isolated to scattered rainfall is expected over Vidarbha from August 2 to 4 and on August 7.

The IMD has also forecast isolated thunderstorms and lightning over Vidarbha between August 2 and 5.

Chhattisgarh weather forecast

Chhattisgarh is likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall between August 3 and 7.

Isolated rainfall is expected on August 2, while thunderstorms and lightning are likely between August 2 and 5.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over the state from August 3 to 7.

West Bengal weather forecast

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 2 to 7.

Gangetic West Bengal may also receive widespread rainfall between August 2 and 7.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph, with gusts up to 50 kmph, are likely over Gangetic West Bengal on August 2 and 3.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal on August 3 and between August 5 and 7. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal may receive isolated heavy rainfall on August 6.

Bihar is likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall from August 2 to 6.

Isolated rainfall is expected on August 2 and August 7.
