Weather update (August 3): IMD issues heavy rain alert for Delhi, Kerala, Bihar and other regions; check state-wise forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple weather warnings for Monday, August 3, as several states are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while many other states are likely to witness heavy showers. Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and squally weather over adjoining seas have also been forecast.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in parts of the state.

Bihar

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also expected.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may also occur.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are also expected.

Squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, is likely along and off the Karnataka and Kerala coasts, the Lakshadweep area, the Comorin area, the Sri Lanka coast, the south Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Along and off the Somalia and Oman coasts, winds may reach 45-55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph.
