The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several states on Monday, October 26, as a depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm. The system is forecast to strengthen further over the following days and approach the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts around October 28, raising the risk of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Parts of Keralam and Tamil Nadu are also expected to receive heavy rain, while the weather system could influence conditions in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh later in the week.

The depression is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 26, a severe cyclonic storm by October 27 and a very severe cyclonic storm thereafter, according to the IMD forecast. Delhi is likely to experience partly cloudy skies, while parts of Karnataka may see spells of rain.
