Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi have no weather warning for September 22, while heavy rain warnings are in place for parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Odisha is also facing a much stronger rain threat, with the IMD warning of very heavy rainfall on Tuesday.

Delhi weather today: Will it rain?

Delhi is likely to stay mostly dry on September 22. The IMD's New Delhi-Ridge forecast indicates mainly clear skies, with a maximum temperature around 35°C and a minimum of about 21°C. The weather department has issued no warning for Delhi on September 22. It also does not have a warning for September 23 or 24. Thunderstorm and lightning-related warnings appear from September 25 onward. So, for people in Delhi-NCR, widespread rain is not expected today based on the latest IMD warning.

Bengaluru weather today: Rain likely

Bengaluru is likely to see rain or thundershowers on Tuesday. The IMD city forecast has predicted generally cloudy conditions with rain or thundershowers accompanied by strong gusty winds. The forecast temperature range is around 21°C to 31°C. The wider Karnataka region is also under a more active weather pattern. The IMD has warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms over South Interior Karnataka on September 22, with very heavy rain possible on September 23 and 24. This means Bengaluru residents may need to watch for sudden showers, particularly while commuting.

Hyderabad weather today: Moderate rain forecast

Hyderabad is also likely to remain cloudy with rain activity. The IMD city forecast for September 22 indicates moderate rain, with temperatures expected to remain around 23°C to 32°C. However, the city-level forecast does not carry a warning for Tuesday. Rainfall may therefore be more of a localised weather event in Hyderabad rather than a widespread severe-weather situation.

Gujarat weather today: Thunderstorms possible

Gujarat has a thunderstorm and lightning warning for September 22. The IMD has also issued the same warning for Saurashtra and Kutch. Maharashtra is among the states where the IMD has issued more significant rain warnings. Konkan and Goa are under a heavy rain warning for September 22 and 23, along with thunderstorms and lightning. Madhya Maharashtra also has a heavy rain warning for both days.

Marathwada has a thunderstorm and lightning warning on Tuesday, followed by a heavy rain warning on September 23. Vidarbha, meanwhile, has no warning for September 22 but is forecast to see heavy rain from September 23, with the warning continuing through September 26 in some areas.

Mumbai and other parts of Konkan could therefore see spells of rain even as weather conditions vary considerably across the state.

Odisha faces very heavy rain alert

Odisha is one of the areas facing the strongest warnings on September 22. The IMD has forecast very heavy rain in the state on Tuesday, along with thunderstorms, lightning and squally conditions. The warning becomes more severe on September 23 and 24, when extremely heavy rainfall is forecast. Very heavy rain is again expected on September 25, followed by heavy rain on September 26.

Andhra Pradesh may see intense rain

Coastal Andhra Pradesh is also under a significant rain warning. The IMD has forecast very heavy rain on September 22, followed by extremely heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24. Strong surface winds are also expected during parts of this period. Rayalaseema has a thunderstorm and strong surface wind warning for September 22.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala weather today

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are under a thunderstorm and lightning warning on September 22 and 23. Chennai's city forecast indicates that rain or thundershowers may occur towards the evening or night on Tuesday, with temperatures between about 27°C and 35°C. Kerala also remains under an active weather pattern. The latest IMD warning indicates thunderstorms and lightning on September 22, while heavy rain is forecast from September 23 to 25.

Weather today: What should people expect?

The September 22 forecast shows that rainfall will not be uniform across the country. Delhi is expected to remain largely dry, while Bengaluru, Hyderabad and parts of Karnataka may see showers. Gujarat faces a thunderstorm risk, while parts of Maharashtra are under heavy rain warnings.
