Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness generally cloudy skies with moderate rainfall across several parts of the region. The forecast includes the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in some areas. Meanwhile, Northern Railway has operated special trains to assist tourists and pilgrims affected by road disruptions caused by heavy rainfall, landslides and shooting stones.

Udhampur weather forecast

Udhampur is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with moderate rain. The temperature is expected to range between a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius. Moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also possible.

Jammu city weather forecast

Jammu city is expected to experience generally cloudy weather with moderate rain. The maximum temperature is likely to reach 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle around 25 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar weather forecast

Srinagar is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with moderate rainfall. The temperature is expected to remain between a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius.

Katra weather forecast

Katra is expected to see generally cloudy conditions with moderate rain. Moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also likely.

Pahalgam weather forecast

Pahalgam is likely to witness cloudy skies with moderate rainfall. The temperature may range between a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg weather forecast

Gulmarg is expected to experience generally cloudy skies with moderate rain. The temperature is likely to remain between a maximum of 18 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius.

Railways run special trains amid travel disruptions

Northern Railway has operated special trains between the Kashmir Valley and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to assist tourists and pilgrims stranded due to heavy rainfall, landslides and shooting stones that disrupted traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

A Jammu Division railway spokesperson said the move was aimed at providing a safe and reliable travel option amid continued road disruptions.

A special train operated on July 24 departed Sangaldan at 1:45 pm, stopped at Banihal and Anantnag, and reached Srinagar at 4:40 pm. On its return journey, the train left Srinagar at 5 pm and arrived at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 8:15 pm.

Another train service, numbered 74620, was extended from Sangaldan to Katra. A special train was also operated between Srinagar and Katra on July 23.

Passengers advised to check updates

More than 1,500 passengers used the special train services during the disruptions.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the decision to operate additional trains was taken after bad weather conditions and road closures affected travel. Passengers have been advised to check train updates through the NTES app, IRCTC website or the 139 helpline before starting their journey.
