Tata Aeris launch on September 25: Tata's new sedan expected with CNG option, rivaling Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura; may replace Tigor

Tata Motors is preparing to launch its compact sedan Tigor in a new avatar and possibly under a new name. Instead of selling the facelifted Tigor with only minor changes, the company may give the sedan a new identity as the Tata Aeris. Tata Motors has also registered the trademark for the name “Tata Aeris”. The new sedan is expected to launch on September 25, 2026.

Tata Aeris design and exterior changes

The Tata Aeris is expected to receive several design updates.

At the front, the sedan could get slim headlights, a black connecting element and a larger, sportier bumper, giving it a more modern and sporty appearance.


The side and rear profiles are also expected to receive updates. According to a RushLane report, the car could feature new alloy wheels, redesigned tail lights and a new rear bumper. However, the overall sedan shape is expected to remain largely unchanged.

Tata Aeris interior and features

The cabin of the new Tata Aeris could draw inspiration from the recently launched Tata Tiago facelift.

The sedan is expected to feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

Other premium features could include a digital driver display, a new steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, Type-C charging ports and electrically folding ORVMs.

For passenger safety, the new sedan is expected to come with six airbags.

Tata Aeris petrol, CNG and EV options

The Tata Aeris could be offered with petrol, CNG and electric powertrain options.

The petrol version is expected to use a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque.

A factory-fitted CNG kit could also be offered. In CNG mode, the car is expected to produce 75.5 PS of power and 96.5 Nm of torque. Both petrol and CNG versions could get five-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

Alongside the petrol and CNG versions, Tata Motors is also expected to introduce an electric version called the Aeris.ev

Tata Aeris price and expected launch price

The Tata Aeris is expected to remain positioned as an affordable compact sedan, with the new model likely to be priced competitively against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. Tata Motors is expected to reveal the official price at the September 25 launch.

Why Tata may rename the Tigor

The compact sedan segment in India is dominated by models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. The Tata Tigor has struggled to match their sales and has a smaller presence in the segment.

Tata Motors could therefore be looking to give the facelifted sedan a fresh identity through the Tata Aeris name while adding new features and design changes. The company may hope the new name and updated package will attract more customers to the sedan.
