Educational institutions across several districts of Odisha will remain closed on Thursday, September 24, following weather-related concerns in the state. Schools and Anganwadi centres in Nabarangpur, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Khurda and Malkangiri have been ordered to remain shut through Thursday.

The closures apply to students, while teachers and other school staff have been directed to report for duty. School authorities have also been asked to ensure that buildings remain accessible and prepared to respond to any emergency situation.

School closures extended across eight Odisha districts

Schools in Nabarangpur, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Khurda will remain closed until September 24, according to the information provided. Malkangiri has also announced the closure of schools through Thursday.

Anganwadi centres in the affected areas will also remain shut until September 24.

Despite the holiday for students, teachers and other staff members are required to continue reporting to their respective institutions.

Puri restricts beach access amid weather concerns

The Puri district administration has taken additional precautionary measures along the coast. Red flags have been placed across the beach, and sea bathing has been completely prohibited until Thursday.

The restrictions are aimed at preventing people from entering the sea during the period of adverse weather conditions.

Schools told to stay ready for emergencies

Principals have been instructed to introduce roster-based duties among teachers and other staff so that school premises remain accessible around the clock.

Under the arrangement, the school buildings are expected to remain available 24 x 7 and ready for use in the event of an emergency.

Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram observes holiday

In Andhra Pradesh, a holiday was declared for all schools in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday, September 23.
