Samsung Galaxy S27 pro leak: Samsung’s next flagship may bring a change fans have awaited for years; check expected upgrades

Samsung may finally move away from the 5,000mAh battery capacity that has remained a fixture of its Ultra-series flagships for years. Leaked certification information suggests the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra could carry a rated 5,534mAh battery, while the Galaxy S27 Pro is reportedly set to feature a 5,087mAh cell.

Using Samsung’s usual method of presenting advertised battery capacity above the rated figure, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could be promoted with a 5,700mAh battery. That would mark a substantial increase over the 5,000mAh battery used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Galaxy S27 Ultra could break Samsung’s long-running battery pattern

Samsung has kept the Ultra line at a nominal 5,000mAh capacity since the Galaxy S20 Ultra arrived in 2020. That figure has remained unchanged through the Galaxy S26 Ultra, even as newer processors and improvements in power efficiency have been introduced across successive generations.

The leaked specification would therefore represent an increase of roughly 700mAh for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The Galaxy S27 Pro is also expected to receive a larger battery, with the reported 5,087mAh cell potentially being marketed as 5,200mAh.

The figures are said to have appeared in China’s 3C certification database. Samsung has not officially announced the battery capacities of the Galaxy S27 series, so the reported numbers remain unconfirmed.

Chinese rivals are already pushing battery capacities higher

The potential increase comes as Chinese smartphone brands continue to raise battery capacity in their flagship models. Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have introduced devices using silicon-carbon battery technology, with capacities reaching the 7,000mAh to 8,000mAh range.

Against that backdrop, a 5,700mAh battery in the Galaxy S27 Ultra would still be smaller than the capacities offered by some competing flagship smartphones from Chinese manufacturers.

Apple has also reportedly increased battery capacity over successive iPhone generations. The iPhone 12 Pro Max, launched in 2020, was reported to have a 3,687mAh battery, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max is reportedly equipped with a 5,567mAh cell.

New Snapdragon chip could affect Galaxy S27 battery life

A larger battery would not be the only factor determining how long the Galaxy S27 Ultra can run between charges. The flagship is expected to use a newer Snapdragon chipset, which could also improve power efficiency.

That combination could give Samsung greater room to improve battery endurance, although the actual impact would depend on the efficiency of the new processor and the overall power demands of the device.

For now, the reported 5,534mAh and 5,087mAh capacities remain based on leaked certification information rather than an official Samsung announcement.
