Ram Kapoor shares heartbreaking truth about his father, says he helped him 'plan his death' before revealing the painful family fallout that followed

Actor Ram Kapoor made an emotional and deeply personal revelation on the latest episode of Lock Upp 2, leaving fellow contestants visibly moved. During a segment prompted by the keyword "Father", the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain star opened up about his father's battle with cancer and the difficult promise he made during his final days.

Ram revealed that he stood by his father's side after he expressed a wish to stop treatment, adding that the decision permanently affected his relationship with his family.

Ram Kapoor recalls his father's battle with cancer

During the episode, Ram shared that his father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 63. According to the actor, doctors were initially unable to operate, and his father underwent 18 rounds of chemotherapy.

Ram said the treatment proved successful, allowing his father to live for another decade. However, the cancer later returned, and the family once again faced an uncertain future.

'I helped my father plan his death,' says Ram Kapoor

Speaking about the most difficult chapter of his life, Ram revealed that his father was in Singapore during the COVID-19 pandemic when he reached out to him.

The actor said his father wanted to speak privately and told him that he no longer wished to continue living with the illness.

Recalling the conversation, Ram said his father asked him directly if he would help him through his final moments.

"I helped my father plan his death."

Ram explained that he was initially shocked by the request but said his father eventually convinced him that he did not want to face death alone.

Ram Kapoor says he stayed beside his father until the end

The actor shared that he honoured his father's final wish by remaining with him in the intensive care unit.

According to Ram, no further treatment was being administered at the time, and his father had asked him to stay beside him and hold his hand until the very end.

He also revealed that his father had requested a simple farewell, asking family members not to cry at his funeral and expressing a wish to be buried on the same day he passed away.

Ram said keeping that promise was one of the most emotionally challenging experiences of his life but also one that changed him forever.

'My mother and sister still don't talk to me'

Ram also disclosed that his decision created a lasting rift within his family.

He revealed that his mother and sister have not spoken to him since his father's death more than five years ago.

Despite the emotional consequences, Ram said he believes he fulfilled his father's final wish with dignity.

He described standing beside his father in his last moments as one of the greatest acts a child could do for a parent.

Reflecting on the experience, Ram said witnessing death so closely transformed the way he looks at life.
