House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 7 ends with what the season has been quietly building towards for weeks: Ulf the White apparently turning his back on Rhaenyra and throwing his dragon, Silverwing, behind Team Green.

The final scene shows Ulf in a hilltop conversation with Lord Ormund Hightower, who has been working to flip him for some time. Ormund references the fact that Daemon struck Ulf in the streets of King's Landing and tells him that Rhaenyra and her allies regard him only as a tool to be used and reprimanded.

Ormund offers Ulf not just a lordship but Driftmark itself, the seat of House Velaryon. "They will laugh at you no more, when they see you as you are," Ormund tells him. Ulf's response: "No. They will burn."


Ulf the White Betrayal Explained

Ulf's turn has been coming. Earlier in the same episode, Ormund tells Gwayne Hightower that he has a piece on the board that will bring Rhaenyra to her knees. Gwayne assumes he means Lord Corlys, who was kidnapped in the previous episode. The ending makes clear Ormund was referring to Ulf all along.

Ulf was one of the dragonseeds Rhaenyra recruited in Season 2, baseborn riders with Targaryen blood who could bond with riderless dragons. He claimed Silverwing.
