A 36-year-old associate operator working at a multinational company was found hanging at his residence in Gurugram’s Surat Nagar. Police have launched an investigation after his family alleged that ongoing marital issues may have led to his death.

Incident at Home

The deceased, identified as Sanjeev Yadav, is believed to have died by suicide on Thursday. At the time of the incident, only his wife, Manpreet Kaur, and their seven-year-old son were present in the house. According to police, the child reportedly recorded a video on a mobile phone showing his father hanging, while his mother could be heard calling out for help.

Family Raises Concerns

Police said that Manpreet informed both her family and Sanjeev’s relatives soon after discovering him. However, Sanjeev’s sister, Kiran, alleged that he had been under stress as his wife was seeking a divorce. She described the circumstances as suspicious and called for a detailed probe.

Allegations of Foul Play

The family has also raised suspicions of foul play, prompting police to question Manpreet as part of the investigation. Sanjeev’s father, Ramsevak Yadav, claimed his son had been facing a prolonged dispute with his wife and expressed doubts about the nature of his death. Kiran further questioned whether Sanjeev, who reportedly weighed over 100 kg, could have taken his own life, citing the video as questionable.

Background of the Couple

Police stated that Sanjeev, originally from Amritsar, married Manpreet, a resident of Ambala, in April 2018 after they met while working at Denso in Gurugram. The couple welcomed a son in 2019, after which Manpreet left her job.

Ongoing Investigation

"We handed over the body to the family after the postmortem and are investigating the case from every angle. The postmortem report is awaited, which will reveal the exact cause of death. Further action will be taken as per the law," investigating officer Sub-Inspector Mahender Singh said.
