Gurgaon weather today: IMD predicts heavy rain, issues yellow alert for Gurugram
Gurgaon (Gurugram) is likely to witness another spell of rain today as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. With active monsoon conditions continuing across northern India, residents in Gurgaon have been advised to remain alert while travelling and keep an eye on the latest weather updates.

IMD issues yellow alert for Gurgaon today

According to the IMD, Gurgaon is expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds today. The yellow alert indicates that weather conditions could cause localised disruption, particularly during peak commuting hours.

The weather department has advised residents to exercise caution, especially while driving on waterlogged roads or during periods of reduced visibility caused by heavy rain.

Yesterday's rain disrupted Delhi and NCR

Heavy rain swept across Delhi and neighbouring NCR regions on Wednesday, leading to traffic congestion and waterlogging in several areas. The IMD had issued yellow and orange alerts for different parts of the capital as intense rain and thunderstorms affected daily life.

Several locations, including Vijay Chowk, Jantar Mantar, Kartavya Path, ITO, Mathura Road, Sangam Vihar, CR Park and Lodhi Road, recorded significant rainfall.

Commuters also reported waterlogging in multiple areas through social media, with many facing delays during the morning and evening rush hours.

Will Gurgaon receive more rain?

The IMD has indicated that monsoon activity is likely to remain active over the region, increasing the chances of intermittent showers and thunderstorms in Gurgaon through the day. While rainfall may vary across different parts of the city, brief spells of heavy rain cannot be ruled out.

Residents should plan their travel accordingly, particularly during periods of intense rainfall when roads may become slippery and traffic movement slower than usual.

The weather department has urged people in Gurgaon to remain cautious as monsoon conditions continue across northern India. Residents are advised to:

  • Avoid open areas during thunderstorms.
  • Stay away from trees, electric poles and loose structures during strong winds.
  • Drive carefully on waterlogged or slippery roads.
  • Follow official IMD weather updates before travelling.
