Garam Dharam Dhaba shut in Ghaziabad after viral video shows cockroach in vegetable dish; officials find insects in damaged deep freezer

Garam Dharam Dhaba in Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad;s kitchen has been temporarily shut down after a viral video shows that a cockroach was inside a vegetable dish. After this the customer complained about the issue to the district administration and the Food Safety Department, prompting a team of officials to inspect the dhaba on Wednesday.

The inspection was conducted by ADM (City) Vinay Kashyap with his team. They then inspected the kitchen area and hygiene of the dhaba.

During the inspection the officials found out that the deep freezer in which the supplies are stored is damaged and there were small insects crawling all over it.


"Significant filth was also found in the kitchen. While the exterior area is clean, the condition of the kitchen is alarming and a matter of concern ", Kashyap said, quoted by NDTV.

The officials also collected four samples of paneer, oil, mustard and water. The officials also issued a notice to the dhaba operator.

The kitchen has been directed to remain closed for the time being and will be allowed to reopen only after the shortcomings found during the inspection are rectified and all required food safety standards are followed.

“We came here in response to that matter. The complaint we received via the media appears to be valid,” he said.

Olympia Coffee House Licence Suspended After Inspection

There are food inspections going on in many cities.

A couple of days back, the development comes days after Mumbai’s popular Olympia Coffee House in Colaba had its licence suspended following an inspection last week. The eatery had recently attracted attention after Hollywood stars Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon and Tom Holland visited the restaurant during their Mumbai trip for the promotion of The Odyssey.
