Warren Buffett says skills cannot be 'inflated away'
Buffett’s argument is that money can lose value, but a person's abilities remain with them.He says skills cannot simply be taken away or “inflated away”. Instead, people can use what they know and what they are good at to create value for others.
“Somebody else will give you some of the wheat they produce, or the cotton, or whatever it may be, and they will trade you for the skill you have,” Buffett says.
The idea is pretty straightforward: build something within yourself that remains valuable even when circumstances change.
'The best investment by far' is in yourself
Buffett concludes the video by bringing the focus back to personal development.“So the best investment by far is anything that develops yourself,” he says.
The clip shared by Goenka puts a simple spin on the usual conversation around investments. Instead of focusing only on where to put money, Buffett's message is about building skills, knowledge and abilities that stay with you for the long term.
For anyone trying to figure out where to invest their time, the takeaway from the video is simple: work on becoming really good at what you do.
