A Conversation That Needs More Openness
As the couple celebrated their babies turning two months old, Divyanka highlighted a topic she believes is rarely discussed openly."Why does no one talk about feeding openly?" she questioned.
She pointed out that while people often emphasize the benefits of breast milk for babies, very few prepare mothers for the actual experience.
"The baby benefits from breast milk. But what about the mother?" she added.
Lack of Awareness Even Among Close Circles
Divyanka shared that even the women closest to her, her mother, sister, and friends, never really explained what breastfeeding truly feels like. This lack of conversation left her unprepared for many realities of the journey.Unexpected Physical Changes After Childbirth
The actor also spoke about surprising physical changes she experienced postpartum. She explained that her body would automatically produce milk at feeding times or even when the babies cried."You start leaking. Milk starts leaking. It can get embarrassing," she shared.
The Pain of Delayed Feeding
One of the biggest challenges she highlighted was the discomfort caused by delaying feeds. With visitors frequently coming to meet the newborns, she sometimes had to postpone feeding sessions."When I am busy hosting people, I sometimes skip feeding. It becomes excruciatingly painful."
The Emotional Side: Pain and Guilt
Divyanka also addressed the emotional aspect of breastfeeding, something she feels is often overlooked."No one talks about the pain and guilt."
A Reassuring Message for New Mothers
Offering comfort and encouragement, she reminded new mothers that breastfeeding is a gradual learning process."Breastfeeding is no exam. Latching is not a talent. It's something that both the mother and the baby learn with time. It's a learning experience for all."
Expert Tips for Breastfeeding Mothers
While breastfeeding is natural, it is not always easy. Experts often suggest:Be patient: Both mother and baby take time to adjust, and latching improves with practice
Watch for persistent pain: Ongoing discomfort should be discussed with a doctor
Accept support: Family members can help with daily tasks to ease the load
Prioritize self-care: Staying hydrated, eating nutritious food, and getting rest are essential for recovery and milk production
