Delhi weather tomorrow August 5: IMD issues yellow alert, moderate rain likely

Delhi is likely to witness moderate rainfall on Wednesday, August 5, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for the national capital. The weather department has forecast a generally cloudy sky and predicted continued rainfall activity in Delhi till August 10.

The forecast comes after rain lashed several parts of the city on Tuesday, providing relief from humid conditions. Ayanagar recorded the highest rainfall among Delhi's weather stations during the day.

Delhi rainfall update: Ayanagar records highest rain

Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Tuesday, Ayanagar received 49.3 mm of rainfall, the highest among the city's monitoring stations.

Safdarjung recorded 9.4 mm of rainfall, followed by Palam at 8.1 mm, Lodhi Road at 3.7 mm and the Ridge at 1.5 mm during the same period.

In the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday, Ayanagar recorded the highest cumulative rainfall at 23.6 mm. Safdarjung, Palam and the Ridge received trace rainfall, while Lodhi Road did not record any rainfall.

IMD predicts moderate rain, cloudy skies in Delhi

The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on August 5 and placed Delhi under a yellow alert.

The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 24 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has also predicted fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh between August 4 and 6.

Delhi temperature remains near normal

At Safdarjung, Delhi's base weather station, the maximum temperature on Tuesday settled at 33.5 degrees Celsius, 0.7 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees above normal.

Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees below normal, while the minimum stood at 24.8 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees below normal.

Lodhi Road recorded a maximum of 33.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.8 degrees Celsius. The temperatures were 0.2 degrees above normal and 0.8 degrees above normal, respectively.

The Ridge station recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.9 degrees Celsius, both below normal levels.

Ayanagar recorded a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees below normal, while the minimum was 25.6 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degrees below normal.

Delhi air quality remains satisfactory

Delhi's air quality remained in the "satisfactory" category for the fourth consecutive day this month.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 64 at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The CPCB classifies AQI levels between 51 and 100 as "satisfactory", 101 and 200 as "moderate", 201 and 300 as "poor", 301 and 400 as "very poor", and 401 and 500 as "severe".
