CWG 2026 Medal Tally: Check latest Top 10 standings as India climbs to eighth spot, moves ahead of New Zealand

India produced its strongest performance of the Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign on Day 5, securing six medals across para-athletics, athletics and weightlifting. Sharmila Dhankar won a historic gold medal, while Sarvesh Kushare, Valluri Ajaya Babu and Gyaneshwari Yadav claimed silver medals. Shilpa K. Shyla and Bindyarani Devi added bronze medals to India's tally.

The six-medal haul took India's overall medal count to 10, comprising two gold, five silver and three bronze medals, helping the country move up to eighth position in the standings.

Athletics and weightlifting boost medal tally

Athletics, para-athletics and weightlifting emerged as the key contributors for India on Day 5. The country's boxers also remained in contention after securing quarterfinal berths and keeping their medal hopes alive.


Sharmila Dhankar's gold medal marked a significant achievement, while the performances of the silver and bronze medallists further strengthened India's campaign at the Games.

India climbs to eighth in medal standings

India moved to eighth place in the Commonwealth Games medal table with 10 medals. Australia continued to lead the standings with 59 medals, including 26 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze medals.

England remained in second position with 32 medals, while Canada occupied third place with 21 medals. Nigeria, Scotland, South Africa and Malaysia followed in the top positions, with India placed eighth ahead of Jamaica and New Zealand.
