Commonwealth Games 2026 Medal Tally India today: Where the count stands after Neeraj Chopra's silver

India has climbed to 23 medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, five gold, twelve silver and six bronze, with the tally almost certain to swell further today, as ten Indian boxers step into gold-medal bouts on the final full day of competition.

The boxing finals are the headline act of August 1. Every one of the ten Indian boxers who reached the semifinals on Friday won their bouts and marched into the finals, a first for the country at any Commonwealth Games. That means India is guaranteed at least ten more medals before the Games close, with the only question being how many turn to gold.

Friday, July 31, turned into one of the best single days of the campaign. Judokas Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh won India's first-ever Commonwealth gold medals in the sport, beating opponents from Canada and Australia respectively, while Yamini Mourya added a silver in the women's 57kg final. On the same day, Tejaswin Shankar claimed bronze in the decathlon, and the men's javelin throw produced a double podium finish, with Neeraj Chopra taking silver and Yash Vir Singh winning bronze.

Weightlifting has been India's most consistent medal-producing sport this Games, and Mirabai Chanu lifted the country's first gold of the campaign, completing a hat-trick of Commonwealth titles in the process. Jhandu Kumar opened India's account altogether with a bronze in para powerlifting, while Rishikanta Singh became the first able-bodied Indian medallist, taking silver in the men's 60kg weightlifting with a new Games record in the snatch.

Boxing's golden Saturday

The lineup heading into today's finals reads like a full roster of India's boxing hopes. Sakshi Chaudhary, Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Lovlina Borgohain, Jadumani Singh, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal and Narender Berwal will all fight for gold. Among them, Lovlina Borgohain carries the most weight of expectation. The Olympic bronze medallist dominated her semifinal against Tuvalu's Tarona Taafaki and now faces Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree for a title that would complete her collection of major multi-sport medals.

Where India sits on the Commonwealth Games Medal Table

Even with the boxing windfall still to come, India was placed 10th in the overall standings after Thursday's results, sitting well behind the leading pack. Australia has dominated the medal count throughout the Games and had crossed 100 medals by Day 8, with England and Canada rounding out the podium positions. India's own haul has come almost entirely from weightlifting, athletics, judo and para sports, disciplines that have carried the flag through a Games with a noticeably smaller Indian contingent than Birmingham four years ago.

With the Glasgow Games scheduled to close on August 2, today's boxing finals represent the last big swing at India's medal count. A strong showing could push the country several places up the table by the time the closing ceremony arrives, a marked contrast to how quietly the campaign began.
