CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke's mother says he will marry only after completing studies, becoming financially independent

Even as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) remains engaged in a standoff with the Centre over its demand for the withdrawal of FIRs against students, its founder Abhijeet Dipke has postponed marriage plans, according to his mother. She said the 26-year-old activist has been declining marriage proposals for the past two years, choosing to focus on completing his studies and achieving financial independence before settling down.

Mother says studies and financial independence remain priority

Speaking to PTI, Anita Dipke said marriage proposals have been coming for her son for the past two years, but he has consistently maintained that he will marry only after finishing his education and becoming financially independent.

Her remarks come as Dipke recovers from typhoid while continuing to lead the CJP's campaign over the alleged police action against student protesters.

Dipke alleges continued harassment of students

In a post on X, Dipke alleged that students continued to face police harassment despite the government's assurances. He warned that the CJP would launch another large-scale peaceful protest if the alleged targeting did not stop.

"The government must stop targeting and witch-hunting students," Dipke said, adding that the organisation would respond with a fresh protest if the alleged harassment continued.

Truce over agitation comes under strain

The CJP ended its 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday after announcing that the Centre had accepted its key demands, including the resignation of the then Union education minister, withdrawal of FIRs against protesters, assurance against retaliatory action and consideration of wider examination reforms.

However, on Monday, the outfit renewed its demands, seeking the immediate release of arrested protesters, withdrawal of all criminal cases and a written assurance that no new FIRs would be registered. It warned that the agitation would resume if these commitments were not fulfilled.

CJP threatens nationwide protest

On Tuesday, the CJP escalated its stand by warning of a nationwide protest, alleging that the Centre was citing the Supreme Court's interim order in a batch of PILs related to the agitation to avoid issuing the promised written assurance on withdrawing FIRs.

Speaking to PTI, CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said government representatives informed the outfit during talks that the matter had become sub judice following the Supreme Court's interim order and that the written assurance had not yet been issued.

Das alleged that the government was attempting to backtrack on its commitments and warned that the CJP would launch protests across the country if the assurances were not honoured.
