Adnan Sami’s luxurious Mumbai penthouse located in Lokhandwala is more than just an elegant home. Filled with rare antiques, original music records, priceless manuscripts and personal memorabilia, the singer-composer’s residence reflects his deep love for music, art and history.

Designed largely in elegant off-white tones, the expansive residence features a music studio, home theatre, prayer area, office and multiple spaces for entertaining guests. The home also reflects Adnan’s long-standing connection with music, art and history, with original records, manuscripts, silverware and other collectibles displayed throughout the property.

Uploaded by Farah Khan, the house tour begins at the entrance, where a striking photo collage of Adnan Sami and his wife, Roya Faryabi, leads into the spacious living room.

The large area is divided into distinct sections, including a dining space, seating area and a dedicated music corner.

Farah first explored a compact music section designed for intimate gatherings. A piano takes centre stage, while an off-white dining table sits opposite it. The surrounding walls are decorated with framed records, silver collectibles and other artefacts.

Farah was particularly impressed by the interiors and told Adnan, “Adnan, your house is beautiful.”

She was then drawn to the collection of silver crockery and asked, “Is this all real silver?”

“Yes. It is from all over the world. My parents were diplomats, so we lived in different parts of the world,” Adnan replied.

Looking around the residence, Farah remarked, “This house does look like an embassy house.”

One of the most distinctive features of the penthouse is a wall displaying original records from some of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated films. The collection includes records from ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Pakeezah’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’, ‘Sholay’ and ‘Baiju Bawra’.

For Adnan, however, the records represent more than valuable collectibles. They are linked to the music he grew up listening to and his own journey as an artist.

“I have not randomly put them on the wall. These are the records which I heard since childhood. They played a part in my musical life and career,” he said.

Among the collection is an original record from ‘Alam Ara’, regarded as India’s first talkie film. Pointing towards the record, Adnan said, “Alam Ara was the first talkie film. This is an original record.”

His collection also extends beyond Indian cinema. The penthouse houses memorabilia connected to international music legends, including The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

Explaining the provenance of the pieces, Adnan said, “I got these from an auction. These were their gold records that they received and were given for an auction. And I bought them.”

Beethoven manuscript among prized possessions

The home’s collection also includes original manuscripts and rare musical documents. One particularly striking piece caught Farah’s attention — what appeared to be an original manuscript of Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’.

“It can’t be. Guys, this is an original manuscript of Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven,” Farah exclaimed.

Beethoven, who lived from 1770 to 1827, was a pioneering composer, pianist and conductor whose works have had a lasting influence on Western classical music.

Seeking to confirm the authenticity of the document, Farah asked, “It is a print of the original script, right?”

“No, it is an original,” Adnan clarified.

“I think this one will be worth millions…” Farah said.

“It was worth a lot,” Adnan replied.

Original Beethoven manuscripts and movement autographs have fetched millions of dollars at international auctions, with some examples selling for around USD 2 million to nearly USD 4 million. At current exchange rates, that would amount to roughly Rs 20 crore to Rs 40 crore. Such original manuscripts are exceptionally scarce and can command significant value among collectors.

A wall dedicated to Adnan’s career

The penthouse also features a dedicated memory wall chronicling different stages of Adnan’s professional journey. Photographs with actors, images from performances and a picture from the occasion when he received the Padma Shri form part of the display.

Farah’s tour also touched on Adnan’s well-known dinner parties, offering a glimpse into the singer-composer’s life away from his music and his extensive collection of rare memorabilia.
