7 cheap and effective ways to clean dirty switchboards safely

Switchboards are one of the most frequently touched surfaces in a home, yet they're among the easiest to forget during routine cleaning. Over time, they accumulate dust, grease, fingerprints and stubborn stains, leaving them looking grimy. Fortunately, you don't need expensive cleaning products to restore their shine. With a few everyday household items and the right precautions, you can clean switchboards safely and effectively.

Plain white (non-gel) toothpaste can help remove scuff marks from plastic switchboards.

Apply a small amount, rub gently with a soft cloth, then wipe away the residue with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately.

For greasy edges and hard-to-reach corners, lightly dampen a cotton bud with a diluted white vinegar solution and clean carefully around the switches.

Make sure no liquid enters the switchboard, and dry the surface completely afterwards.
