₹60 lakh a year: Techie says dropping out was the 'best decision of my life,' Now earns more than his college's highest placement
A B.Tech dropout has sparked debate online after claiming that he now earns ₹4.86 lakh per month. In a post on X, Lavanya Jain shared his unconventional journey, stating that he did not graduate from an IIT and, in fact, dropped out during the final semester of his Electronics and Communication Engineering degree.
Dropped Out Before Completing Degree
Sharing his experience, Jain wrote, "I'm not even from an IIT. In fact, I dropped out from my B.Tech... I think it was one of the best decisions of my life." His statement quickly gained attention, especially among students and professionals discussing career paths and traditional education.
Claims Higher Earnings Than College Placements
Jain further claimed that his current income exceeds the highest placement package offered by his college, which he said was USD 100,000 per year. According to him, he now works part-time as a contractor while also earning from five different sources of passive income.
Shares Payment Proof Online
To support his claim, Jain shared screenshots of two payments received via Wise. The images showed credits of ₹3.74 lakh and ₹1.12 lakh, bringing his total monthly earnings to approximately ₹4.86 lakh.
“This Is Not a Flex”
Clarifying his intent, Jain wrote, "This is not a flex, really it's not." He explained that his goal was to challenge the perception that an IIT degree is essential for success.
Internet Reacts
One user commented, "Not everyone is as talented as you bro, some people really need the IIT tag to get a decent job."
