'You will face repercussions': Sen Paul vows contempt vote against Fauci after he invokes the Fifth

The ​U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental ​Affairs Committee will hold a vote next week on ‌holding Dr Anthony Fauci in ​contempt, its chairman, Senator Rand Paul ​, said on Wednesday. Fauci, the former top U.S. ​infectious disease ⁠expert, appeared before ‌the committee on Wednesday and ⁠declined to answer over 90 questions, ​invoking his constitutional ​right against self-incrimination. "Because you refuse to answer, citing a privilege that is unsupported, ‌because of your pardon, and after ​being denied ​to do ⁠so, this committee is scheduled to vote next week ​on a resolution certifying your contempt," Paul said.
