US ships in Indian Ocean will be attacked if war resumes, warns Iran

Iran on Sunday warned that US ships in the Indian Ocean "will be targeted" if hostilities with Washington resume, with Iranian Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei claiming that Tehran is fully prepared for a naval confrontation.

In a video posted by the Iran Embassy in Hyderabad, Rezaei said American vessels would be attacked wherever they are in the Indian Ocean unless they leave the region.

“If war begins again, US ships, unless they leave the Indian Ocean, will be attacked wherever they are inside the Indian Ocean,” Rezaei said.


He claimed Iran had strengthened its military capabilities during the conflict, including increasing the speed of its hypersonic missiles from Mach 6 to Mach 10.

“We have also developed our electronic warfare systems, improved our air defences, and we have other measures that we will use at the appropriate time,” he addec.

Rezaei said these developments had left Iran “fully prepared” for a renewed confrontation with the US.

“If America starts the war, we will confront America with greater force and with more numerous and more painful strikes,” he said.

The warning comes amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a major flashpoint. Iranian officials have said the strait will not be reopened until their conditions are met, while the US has continued efforts to enforce restrictions on maritime traffic involving Iran.

In a separate post, the Embassy said Iran had communicated seven conditions to the US administration for the commencement of any negotiations. Tehran’s message, it said, was that Washington would have to accept Iran’s “rights and conditions” if it wanted to avoid further entanglement and find a way out of the current confrontation.
