'Serious offence with real consequences': Minnesota fraud scandal grows as four more plead guilty

Fallout from widespread fraud in Minnesota continues to play out in both state and federal courts. In one of dozens of cases, four men pleaded guilty to defrauding Minnesota's Housing Stabilisation Services program of about $2.2 million. “These defendants corruptly exploited vulnerable people and a vulnerable program to enrich themselves. Taxpayer dollars designed to provide shelter and support for the homeless and needy instead went to the pockets of these men. They have now admitted their fraudulent conduct and will face justice for their crimes,” said Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald of the Justice Department’s National Fraud Enforcement Division.
