Russia has 'lost control' of its diesel industry: Trump says Ukraine war has put several refineries out of commission

US President Donald Trump on Monday said Russia has "lost control" of its diesel oil industry, linking the disruption to the ongoing war with Ukraine.

Trump made the remarks in a social media post a day before he was due to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

"Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine. A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission," Trump said in the post.

He did not provide further details in the post about the refineries or the extent of the disruption.

Trump again calls for end to Russia-Ukraine war

Trump also renewed his call for an end to the war, describing the conflict as "ridiculous and never ending".

"This ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine must be ended," he said.

Trump further claimed that the continuing conflict was affecting the wider world, saying, "The whole World suffers as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month."

He ended the post with: "What a shame! President DJT".
