Rosatom showcases global nuclear leadership & ecosystem building approach

At the International Festival of Youth (IFY‑2026) in Yekaterinburg, global and Russian nuclear major Rosatom underscored that its role extends far beyond commercial projects: the company supports partner nations in developing full‑sci ale nuclear industries — from training specialists to instilling a safety culture.

This holistic approach is already visible in key projects like Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (Bangladesh), Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (Turkiye), and the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, which are transforming education, industry, and societal frameworks in their countries. In India Rosatom is involved in Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant.

Andrey Timonov, Director of Rosatom’s Communications Department, speaking at the plenary session "Russia's Image in International Media" on September 16 as part of the IFY2026 'Media Stream' program, said, “Russia does not simply build nuclear power plants for its partners. We help them establish a full-fledged nuclear industry — from training highly qualified personnel and developing the necessary infrastructure to integrating newcomer countries into our global technological chain, giving them the opportunity to jointly implement projects around the world.”


Timonov also highlighted that Rosatom is building 28 out of 32 nuclear power units currently under construction worldwide under export projects — nearly 90% of the global export market for NPP construction.

“Rosatom is the pride of our country, the leading company in the world in its field. And it lives not solely by business logic — we transmit our cultural code. We take countries by the hand and together step into a better future,” Timonov stressed.

Konstantin Ruder, Deputy Director of the Communications Department, speaking at a plenary session titled “How to Become a World Leader: From an Idea to International Recognition” noted that Rosatom’s competitive advantage lies in its ability to export a wide range of nuclear competences. When entering countries that previously did not have a nuclear industry of their own, the Corporation provides everything that is necessary: it helps develop nuclear science and education, and build and operate facilities in compliance with all the relevant requirements.

According to Ruder, Rosatom operates across more than120 business areas, including fusion energy, nuclear medicine, new materials, electric transport, wind power and quantum technologies, which are well positioned to succeed in the international arena. Russian nuclear engineers are already involved in the active stage of construction of 28 nuclear power units in various countries around the world.

The International Youth Festival concluded in Yekaterinburg on September 17. Rosatom acted as the General Partner of the event and integrated actively its youth ecosystem into the festival: its delegation includes 267 young specialists from Russia and abroad — employees from 14 divisions and 47 enterprises, students from 20 partner universities, and youth competition finalists.

Rosatom's festival programme included the Knowledge. First marathon, Global Hackatom finals, a Youth Declaration on Nuclear Cooperation, and the selection for the Icebreaker of Knowledge 2027 expedition. Among the winners of the competitive selection was Ayush Kotecha from India.

Next year, he will join students and experts from around the world aboard the nuclear icebreaker 50 Let Pobedy for his educational programme at the North Pole.
