His progress accelerated dramatically in 2022, when he won both the Italian Formula 4 and ADAC Formula 4 championships.

Across those two series, he recorded 22 victories from 35 starts, demonstrating the consistency and race-winning ability that Mercedes had seen in him during his karting years. The following season brought another significant step as Antonelli won the Formula Regional Middle East Championship and the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Perhaps the most striking element of Antonelli’s development was the decision to move him directly into Formula 2 rather than following the conventional path through Formula 3. He joined PREMA for the 2024 F2 season, immediately facing drivers with considerably more experience.
