LeBron James’ childhood friend Maverick Carter asks court to cut $25K monthly child support to $0: What we know about his dispute with ex Crystal Streets

Maverick Carter, LeBron James' business partner and childhood friend, is in the middle of a court battle with his ex-girlfriend, Crystal Streets. TMZ reported on Thursday, September 24, citing court documents, that Maverick asked the judge to reduce the $25K per month he currently pays her in support for their 18-year-old daughter to $0.

The CEO of The SpringHill Company reportedly said their daughter is enrolled in a full-time boarding school, and he fully pays for it. According to the court documents cited by the outlet, Maverick claimed his ex spends little ‘meaningful’ custodial time with their child. Maverick also said that their daughter turned 18 in July and claimed that the “court no longer had jurisdiction regarding her custody at that point anyway.”



Crystal, in her argument, pointed towards Maverick’s $100 million worth and demanded he should still pay the support and even increase the amount to $35K until their daughter graduates from school.

She reportedly also argued in favor of a 2014 arrangement regarding the increased amount he was giving in 2024; however, she asserts that it was not finalized due to the impact of the California wildfire.

Additionally, she refutes the claim that she does not provide care for their daughter, saying that she “provides emotional support, coordinates her travel, and provides for her needs even while in boarding school.

In a December 28, 2025, email cited in the documents, Carter allegedly wrote to Streets, “Dealing with you is the only thing bad about my life, and I’ll be soooo happy when it’s over.”

As per TMZ, a hearing was held on September 15, and the court hasn't ruled yet. The court also suspended Maverick's child support obligations for the next three months while the court considers the case.
