Gregg Popovich marries his former assistant Mike Budenholzer’s ex-wife; What to know about Mary Barth

Former San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich married his assistant coach Mike Budenholzer’s ex-wife, Mary Barth Budenholzer. “The newlyweds exchanged wedding rings” on September 16 in Texas, TMZ wrote, citing a marriage license.

Mary’s ex-husband Mike spent nearly two decades from 1996 to 2013 on Popovich’s bench in San Antonio, from video coordinator to lead assistant coach. Spurs won four championships during that stretch with the help of Budenholzer. He then left the San Antonio basketball team to become the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.

Who is Mary Barth Budenholzer?

Mary, Mike Budenholzer ex wife, is now 61. A Texas native, born in Corpus Christi. She studied at Mary Carroll High School and later studied at the University of Texas, Austin. She spent some years around the Spurs while being married to Budenholzer; the exact date or year of their original wedding, however, is not publicly available. The duo has four children: sons William Vincent and John Brent, and daughters Savoia Elizabeth and Hanna Louise.

In 2013, Mary and the kids celebrated the Spurs’ success by placing brooms along the streets.
