Sony forecasts 2.9-billion-dollar operating loss

Japan's Sony Corp. said Thursday it expects an operating loss of 260 billion yen (2.9 billion dollars) in the current financial year to March due to weak sales and a stronger yen.

TOKYO: Japan's Sony Corp. said Thursday it expects an operating loss of 260 billion yen (2.9 billion dollars) in the current financial year to March due to weak sales and a stronger yen.

Sony, which is slashing thousands of jobs and axing plants to cope with the economic crisis, forecast a net loss of 150 billion yen for the current year.
