Who is Bryan Seaver and why was he fired from Dolly Parton’s security role?

Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, has been fired from the role of providing security for the singer’s properties. Notably, Seaver was the person who announced Parton’s death and had previously served as the late country music icon’s head of security.

Dolly Parton died on August 25 at the age of 80.

Seaver received a termination notice on Wednesday, Sept. 16, stating that he and his security companies were immediately dismissed, according to TMZ. Seaver reacted by saying he was “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions.”


The statement added, “We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”

Meanwhile, Dolly’s main home in Nashville, her museum, downtown residence and warehouse are now being taken over by a new security team, the report added.

Who is Bryan Seaver?

Dolly Parton had five sisters — Willadeene, Stella, Cassie, Freida and Rachel. She also had five brothers. Bryan Seaver is Dolly Parton’s nephew, the son of her late younger sister Cassie and her first husband, Larry Seaver.

Seaver worked as Parton’s manager and director of security for more than two decades. Bryan’s sister, Rebecca, also worked with Dolly Parton’s museum and archive-related projects for many years. Parton, who had no children, was reportedly close to Bryan. In 1993, she reportedly said that her song “Romeo” was inspired by Bryan.

It was Bryan who announced Dolly Parton’s death on August 25. In a video message posted on Instagram, Bryan at that time said: “My name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next.

“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.

“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now.

“It is an honour, an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens.”
