“Healthy masculine, protector mentality…” California tech executive’s bizarre dating wishlist for future husband sparks online uproar

A 29-year-old tech executive Brooke LeBlanc has sparked a massive uproar online after she posted a dating wish list, leaving some men wondering they should send her flowers or their resumes. Brooke LeBlanc, who works at San Francisco AI insurance startup Corgi, went on social media platform X to look for someone “to co-found the rest of my life with me”. Brooke LeBlanc, the company’s “head of community,” shared a detailed list of dating requirements that drew a lot of backlash.

She said she wanted a man aged 35 to 42 who is masculine, smart, funny and easygoing. She also wanted someone who is kind, generous and thoughtful and has a “provider/protector mentality.” LeBlanc said she wanted a man who is hardworking, fit and sober and is interested in therapy and retreats. He should have no children but should want children in the future.

She also said she preferred a man who had never been married or engaged, worked in tech and was comfortable taking risks. In a follow-up post, LeBlanc said anyone who wanted to date her would also need to get her mother’s approval.

After the post went viral, the Corgi's plans to open up 100 24/7 cafes selling smoothies and snacks seems to have taken a hit, reports The New York Post. Amid a local artificial intelligence boom, the $4 million startup has eyed the cafes as an unconventional marketing strategy for the company, catering to tech founders, venture capitalists and startup employees who work punishing late-night schedules. But things took a U-turn after Brooke LeBlanc went viral for posting an exhaustive list of demands for her future husband.

Her original post was viewed nearly 6 million times before she deleted her X account. LeBlanc later claimed that she had found five potential suitors who matched her requirements. “Sounds totally reasonable to me. Don’t know why people are trippin! Don’t compromise; I hope you find it!” one of her supporters said.

Another said: “You’re going to find him.” Most, however, were sceptical and mocking. “Thought this was a job description at first, and I was like d**n, they’re getting very specific with their GTM team,” one person commented. Another user challenged her, writing: “Would love to see a post of what you will be bringing to the table so we can compare.” Her post also sparked criticism about modern dating and relationships.

One person wrote, “This is why relationships are so messed up today because we exchange people for products.” LeBlanc defended her expectations, saying they were based on her “years of dating experience.”

After facing backlash, she wrote, “God forbid a woman asks for what she wants.” She later responded more bluntly, saying, “Sorry, I don’t want to date a loser!”
