According to reports, James invested $6.5 million in Liverpool FC in 2011 for a 2% stake. Fifteen years later, that investment is reportedly worth $96 million.
According to Basketball Network, James restructured his holdings in January 2026, converting his 2% stake in Liverpool into a 1% ownership share in Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the sports conglomerate that owns Liverpool. The stake is now reportedly valued at around $141 million.

James has several other notable investments. In 2012, he invested about $1 million in Blaze Pizza alongside business partner Maverick Carter and financial adviser Paul Wachter of Main Street Advisors. At the time, the pizza chain had around 10 locations.That investment has since reportedly grown to around $35 million.
James also owns a 42% equity stake in The SpringHill Company, the entertainment and media company he co-founded with Carter. The company produces content for platforms including HBO Max, Netflix and Amazon.
