Travis Kelce makes NFL history as Kansas City Chiefs edge Colts 33-30 in overtime; Mahomes, Walker deliver

Travis Kelce made NFL history while Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker III helped set up Harrison Butker's decisive 40-yard field goal as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 in overtime on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

The victory moved the Chiefs to 2-0, while the Colts fell to 0-2. Mahomes threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns, Walker rushed for 117 yards and Kelce finished with nine receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Kelce's landmark moment came before the game was even over. He entered the night with 6,221 career yards after the catch, just nine behind former Rams and Colts running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, who had 6,230.

Kelce moves to No. 1 in NFL history

Kelce added 18 yards after the catch in the first half, taking his career total to 6,239 and moving him past Faulk for the most yards after the catch in NFL history.

The Chiefs tight end also extended another remarkable streak. Kelce has now caught a pass in 193 career games, the most among active NFL players and the fourth-longest streak in league history. Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice holds the record with a catch in 274 consecutive games.

Kelce's nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown capped a performance that helped Kansas City survive a dramatic finish against Indianapolis.

The Chiefs initially appeared to have secured the win in overtime when Butker hit a 31-yard field goal. The Colts answered when Daniel Jones found Laquon Treadwell deep after Treadwell had beaten L'Jarius Snead.

Treadwell appeared to bobble the ball as he hit the ground before getting up, completing the catch and then losing possession as the Chiefs recovered. The play was initially ruled a fumble, but a review determined that Treadwell was down by contact.

Mahomes, Walker set up Butker's winning kick

The ruling gave Indianapolis an opportunity to take the lead, but the Colts settled for Spencer Shrader's 38-yard field goal to tie the game.

Kansas City took possession again with 3:11 remaining in overtime. The Chiefs handed the ball to Walker on three consecutive plays, taking them to midfield.

The decisive play came when Mahomes connected with Walker for a 22-yard gain, putting Kansas City in position for Butker.

Butker then drilled the 40-yard field goal as time expired to seal the 33-30 victory.

For Indianapolis, Jones finished with 210 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception, while Jonathan Taylor rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
