Facebook, Instagram hit by outages in US, Downdetector shows

Facebook and Instagram faced a surge in outage reports in the US early Monday, according to Downdetector.com, which tracks service disruptions based on user-submitted reports.

Facebook had 17,667 reports of issues at around 6:51 a.m., sharply above its baseline of 15, while Instagram had 5,653 reports, compared with a baseline of 21, according to Downdetector.

Facebook Messenger also saw an increase in reports, with 172 incidents recorded at around 6:52 a.m., against a baseline of four.


WhatsApp, another Meta-owned platform, had 23 reports at around 6:51 a.m., compared with a baseline of two.

Downdetector numbers are based on user-submitted reports and do not represent the actual number of users affected.
