The Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) is separate from OAS. It provides an additional tax-free payment to low-income seniors who receive OAS.Who is eligible for OAS and GIS?

- Be or have been a Canadian citizen or legal resident

To receive the GIS, you must already be 65 or older and receiving OAS. Your annual income must also be below the government's maximum income threshold.
GIS eligibility is reviewed every year. Filing your taxes on time is important because it helps the government determine whether you continue to qualify and can help prevent payment delays.

For the July to September 2026 quarter, the maximum monthly OAS payment is:- $751.97 for seniors aged 65 to 74
