Cherries continue busy summer rebuild
Silva becomes Bournemouth's second signing in quick succession after the club secured the arrival of forward Alvaro Rodriguez from Spanish side Elche earlier this week.The Portugal international has been brought in to replace Senesi, who recently completed a free transfer to Tottenham, leaving Bournemouth searching for a proven central defender before the new campaign.
Benfica academy graduate leaves after trophy-filled spell
A product of Benfica's renowned youth academy, Silva established himself as one of Portugal's brightest defensive talents over the past few seasons.He made 235 senior appearances for the Lisbon giants and helped the club lift six major trophies, earning a reputation for his composure, leadership and consistency at the heart of defence.
His performances also attracted attention on the international stage, where he has earned 20 caps for Portugal.
Silva represented his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2024, although he missed out on Portugal's squad for the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in North America.
