11-year-old Canadian boy Ashton Meyer turned a $10 trash-bin cleaning business into a $700 side hustle, gaining 111,000 Instagram followers and TikTok fame in just 2 months

An 11-year-old Canadian boy Ashton Meyer turned an unpleasant chore into a growing business and now it is booming. A resident of Ontario’s York Region, Meyer started door-to-door service in his neighborhood to offer residents a trash bin cleaning service in May, according to CP24. Following this, there has been no looking back and the business has since gained more than 100,000 Instagram followers, reports PEOPLE.

Ashton Meyer started this to earn extra spending money and this venture has now turned into a viral success. Meyer's videos on Instagram and TikTok have attracted more than 111,000 Instagram followers in just two months.

A simple summer idea turned into a real business

It was a simple summer idea proposed by Ashton’s dad, Jonathan Meyer who saw it as an opportunity who wanted his son to build confidence while learning the value of his work.

“My dad came up with this business plan because there’s older people on my street,” Ashton, 11, told the outlet. “He said, ‘You should go bring their garbages from their garage to their curb.’

“Plus, it’s a good way to just start putting yourself out there and trying to get some money and learn the value of your time,” Jonathan said.

In each video, Meyer confidently walks up to front doors and introduces himself.

"My name is Ashton, and I'm doing a service to clean out all of your bins—that includes your garbage, your green bin and your recycling."

Launching YourBinCleaning but also faced rejections

But like many entrepreneurs, Meyer quickly discovered that rejection is part of building a business. But instead of giving up after hearing "no," he kept moving to the next house.

"I want to be an entrepreneur who owns his own business," Meyer told Fortune.

Even when residents decline, he left behind his phone number with confidence.

"Take it, and if you need me you can call me." "I'll be here all summer."

Ashton subsequently launched YourBinCleaning and began approaching neighbours about washing their dirty bins. “When I go door to door, I’m like, ‘I make money off this, these may be my new customers forever and ever,’ ” he explained.

Today, he has a customer base of approximately 30 to 40 people. Every week, he dedicates two days visiting homes and pitching his service while his father drives him around the neighborhood. He then devotes another two days to cleaning the bins, completing two to three bins per hour.

He has already earned hundreds of dollars

So far, Meyer has earned $700 (around $500 USD) by cleaning bins throughout his neighborhood.

Each job takes around 10 to 15 minutes, during which he pressure washes the inside and outside of garbage bins, scrubs away dirt and grime, disinfects the containers, and returns them clean to homeowners.

His mobile setup includes:

A heavy-duty wagon
A portable pressure washer
Rubber boots
Cleaning brushes
Non-toxic soap
Water tanks

The business’s Instagram account, YourBinCleaning, has garnered more than 100,000 followers since the family began posting videos on May 26. Ashton and his father have also appeared on Fox Business to discuss the venture.

“We did not expect it to blow up the way it did. We did not get the support that we’ve been getting,” Jonathan told CP24. “I mean, Ashton’s been honored by what happened and people are also paying it forward.”

The business won't stop when school starts

Unlike many seasonal jobs, Meyer has no plans to quit once summer ends. "I will definitely keep up washing bins as the weather allows," he says.

"My plan is to work after school and Saturdays." "I also want to do leaf raking and snowplowing during the colder months."

Instead of relying on one seasonal service, Meyer is already thinking like a long-term entrepreneur.

He actually enjoys cleaning garbage bins

While many people would avoid the task, Meyer genuinely likes the work. "I enjoy everything about my job. Going door to door is fun because I get to meet new people," Meyer says.

"It might be weird, but I actually enjoy cleaning the garbage bins. It's satisfying to see them totally clean." That positive attitude has become one of the reasons viewers keep following his journey online.

According to Jonathan, some supporters have also donated money to the business, allowing Ashton to begin providing complimentary services to seniors and people with disabilities.
