Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to join OpenAI, Nvidia CEOs at Trump-Xi dinner: Report

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is set to attend a White House state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 24, joining top executives from some of the world’s biggest technology companies, a person familiar with the planning told Bloomberg.

Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook is also expected at the dinner, joining Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon are also scheduled to attend, the report said.

The dinner is expected to bring together several of the technology industry’s most influential executives amid a growing debate over artificial intelligence (AI) and how the technology should be regulated.


Tech industry leaders have been at odds since last week, when Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for an industry-wide slowdown in AI development, citing risks including large-scale cyberattacks.

The Trump administration has opposed calls for additional regulation or a US slowdown in AI development, arguing that such a move could give China an advantage, Bloomberg reported. China has also criticised Amodei’s comments, calling them “fearmongering.”

Microsoft declined to comment on Bloomberg's request.
