Uttarakhand rains: Dehradun bridge caves in due to heavy rains days after inauguration
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of Uttarakhand for Tuesday, while a 'yellow' alert has been sounded for the remaining districts, with officials instructed to remain vigilant to prevent major disruptions in view of the forecast. Continuous heavy rainfall since last night caused a section of the newly constructed bridge between Prem Nagar and Nanda Ki Chowki on the Dehradun–Paonta Sahib Highway to collapse, disrupting traffic movement.
