STF Assam seizes over 10 kg suspected heroin worth Rs 80 crore in Guwahati; one apprehended

Guwahati: Acting upon reliable intelligence regarding the illegal transportation and suspected deal of a huge quantity of narcotic drugs, a team of the Special Task Force (STF), Assam developed the input and acted promptly.

At around 1:30 PM on Friday, the STF, Assam team apprehended Hardeep Singh, a permanent resident of Ludhiana, Punjab, from Lalmati, Guwahati. During the operation, the team recovered and seized 10.184 kg of suspected heroin from his possession. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹80 crore.

The STF team also recovered and seized a Mahindra Thar vehicle, mobile phones, documents, and other relevant articles from his possession.


In connection with the seizure, STF P.S. Case No. 07/2026 has been registered, and necessary legal action is being initiated in accordance with law.

Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband and to unearth the wider drug trafficking network and other persons involved in the nexus.
