Six NEET-UG candidates move Supreme Court over alleged OMR sheet discrepancies, seek urgent hearing before counselling

Six NEET-UG 2026 candidates on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court alleging discrepancies between the answers they had marked during the examination and the copies of their OMR sheets uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The matter was mentioned before a bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, with the petitioners seeking an urgent hearing before the NEET-UG counselling process begins.

Appearing for the students, the counsel told the court that the plea concerns six candidates who scored over 600 and 650 marks but claim that the OMR sheets made available by the NTA do not match the answers they had actually marked during the examination.


The lawyer also submitted that the students had emailed the NTA and visited its office to raise their concerns but had not received any response.

Taking note of the submissions, the bench agreed to list the matter for hearing.

The development comes after the NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally conducted on May 3, was cancelled following a paper leak. The exam was subsequently re-conducted by the NTA on June 21.
