SIR row: ECI press note says all decisions were unanimous; BJP hits back at Congress

The Election Commission has reiterated that decisions on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) were taken unanimously by all three Election Commissioners, while clarifying that a letter to the Cabinet Secretary was related to an officer on deputation and not an ECI policy matter. BJP leaders Pralhad Joshi and Sambit Patra backed the Commission and criticised Congress. Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Shashi Tharoor, however, questioned the ECI’s functioning and raised allegations over SIR and electoral processes.
