New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the central government, the Delhi government and the Delhi Police Commissioner on a plea claiming that Delhi's Jantar Mantar is no longer a suitable venue for public protests due to safety and logistical concerns, and seeking the designation of an alternative site for such demonstrations.
Flagging the issue as "important", a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to take instructions on the issue.
