Samay Raina, 4 comedians get relief as SC quashes cases over disability remarks
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana passed the order, bringing the criminal proceedings against Raina and the other four accused to an end.

The relief was granted to Raina, Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar alias Sonali Aditya Desai, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar.
The court also took note of steps taken by the five comedians to organise events aimed at supporting persons with disabilities and appreciated their efforts.
"Once there are genuine efforts positive results are bound to be there. They are very bright youngsters. If they have started working in positive direction, there will be positive output," the bench said.

The Supreme Court said the criminal proceedings against the five accused were being quashed, while making it clear that it would continue hearing the broader issue concerning safeguards for content involving persons with disabilities.
The bench is expected to consider suggestions from persons with disabilities on measures that could ensure better checks on such online content and frame appropriate directions on the wider issues involved.
